അവണപ്പറമ്പ് മഹേശ്വരന്‍ നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാട് Avanaparambu Maheswaran Namboodiripad is a eminent traditional physician for elephants and toxicologist.The expertise of the members of the Avanaparambu Mana in toxicology and treatment of elephants is well known. Avanaparambu Narayanan Namboodiripad, grand father of Maheswaran Namboodiripad, was an expert in treating elephants. His brother Godhan Namboodiripad and cousin Nambyathan Namboodiripad were also well known toxicologists. Mr. Maheswaran Namboodiripad started his profession as an electronics engineer.He underwent a radio engineering course at Thiruchirappally Vincent's Technical Institute. He worked in the field of radio engineering for 15 years, when he quit the job to take forward the legacy of the family in elephant treatment and toxicology. His grandfather Narayaran Namboodiripad had bequeathed his knowledge in treating elephants to Maheswaran Namboodiripad. Mr. Namboodiripad is now a member of the team of physicians who treat the elephants of the Guruvayur Devaswom, Thiruvambadi Devaswom and Paramekkavu Devaswom. Mr. Namboodiripad is a well-known writer as well. Avanaparambu Mana and Pallimanna Sive Temple placed in  Kumblangad (Wadakkanchery). Avanaparambu Mana has got space in the famous book "Aithihyamala" of Kottarathil Sankunni. This Nomboothiri Illam has been related with Maharaja of Kochi Sakthan Thampuran. The Namboothiris of this illam have thorough knowledge in Ayurveda Treatment for Elephants and Ayurveda Treatment for Snake poison. Presently, Avanaparambu Maheswaran Namboothiripad is dealing both these branches of Ayurveda. His Uncle (Apphan) Late Nambiathan Namboothiripad was his predecessor from whom he learned this. The Elder brother of Sri Maheswaran Namboothiripad Sri  Narayanan Namboothiri is a famous Astrologer (Jyothishi) there. Both these are the present Karanavars of the Mana.
